See updates at end. I was happy to assemble this car. Although most of the frame is plastic, it feels solid enough for its intended purpose. The basic assembly went smoothly, as can be seen in the photo. When I started assembling the spindle carriage, I encountered problems. First, one of the anti-backlash nut springs on the spindle slide was missing. I decided to proceed with the build as I had a spare spring from the 3D printer project that I could use. When trying to install the two linear rods that the spindle carriage moves on, I encountered a problem. As you can see in the picture of the ends of the two rods, the hole on the left is larger than the hole on the right. Although both holes appear to be threaded, the left one does not engage the screw's threads at all. I figured longer screws might work, but I can put a screw in a hole and it pops out without catching on the threads. My guess is that the rods were overdrilled on only one end and the tap barely touched the metal resulting in poorly formed threads. One end of both rods is like this. To use rods they must be drilled and tapped at this end to fit a larger diameter. The other end of each rod is tightened normally. I could try to fix but threading the rods is difficult, and breaking the tap in the hole would be a tragedy. If the seller responds to this review in a timely manner and offers a solution I will keep the unit, if not I will return it as it is not working as it is. I didn't want to continue building as it would be a waste of time. Putting it back in the box will be problematic. I will try to pack it for return pending contact with seller. I will update this review with a conclusion. Update: I contacted the seller via email and he responded immediately. They send two spare rods and one spare spring and sincerely apologize for the problem. I will try to update this review after receiving the replacement parts. Due to the quick response I have upgraded my rating to 3 stars. Update 2, the seller sent the spare parts through 2 days delivery time. I received the parts and was able to start the machine within minutes with no problems. I have increased my overall rating to 4 stars due to the excellent customer service. This is a cool little machine to play with and learn basic CNC concepts.
