I cook all my meals, so a few years ago I started storing salt and pepper in heavy glass candy jars with lids on the counter for quick and easy access. I recently broke one of the glass lids and could not find a suitable replacement. I researched salt/pepper shakers but couldn't find anything I liked: they were either too small or too big or too expensive or didn't have a lid - plus I wanted the lid to be fully removable, not the one on it the container is attached. Then I found them and they are perfect for me! They're big enough to reach with your fingers or use a measuring spoon, with wooden lids I'll never break them again, they're attractive, and they can be stacked to take up minimal space on a small counter. I was concerned about washing the wooden lids in water, but they seem to be coated in some kind of repellent because the water will bead up without affecting the wood. I am very happy with this purchase.
