I had my cat/boyfriend Toby just after my husband died last year and I shrunk. At first I thought it doesn't matter much, you scoop the clumps into the hopper and pull out the spring door, the clumps fall and the spring door snaps back into place. After I started using it, the garbage smell got better. My daughter comes a few times a week to take out the trash but it takes over two weeks to fill up from shaking the contents. She didn't get through when it was full so I went back to plastic bags. I use a walker so I place the bag on the tray scoop and lift the clumps to the level of the tray to fit. Well it was kind of a disaster as the chunks fell, rose over the outside of the bag and flipped the bag over, sending the chunks to the bottom where they dissolved. I have found the height of this recipe to be perfect with no lumps falling out. When the container is full, simply pull the pouch out of the cartridge just enough to cut open and tie. Then just pull the plastic material out of the cartridge and tie it up and you're done. In a cat, a fairly long time passes and there is absolutely no smell. You only buy one container and it comes with a starter plastic cartridge. Any ordinary cartridge will last a long time. I've been using it for about a year, I like the convenience and the lack of smell!
