Review on Xikar EX Jet Flame Lighter, Windproof, Durable Body, Fuel Adjustment Wheel, Stylish Design, Protective Cap, Black by Lex Ismael

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Actually inferior to the much cheaper $15 Thunderbird Vector Lighter

This lighter really disappointed me. Feels and looks good, but that's where the positives end. A minor annoyance, the lack of a clear or transparent area to know when your lighter is almost empty. I understand doing something aesthetically pleasing, but that would be nice, but that's a bit of a nitpick. The worst thing was with the adjustment, if it was too tight and you tried to loosen it, you might have the problem of the entire adjustment knob falling off, no problem, just put it back in correctly? Well, if you turn it on in any way other than 'Default', the lowest setting is something like 'Factory High' and the high setting feels like a jet flame. A very, very bad design flaw. Finally, the biggest disappointment was that the lighter did not work as stated on the packaging. The gentlest breeze - I say a whisper will put this thing out. Don't buy it because of the windproof claim, it's pure bullshit. I have used a BIC with better windbreak, heck a wooden match would have been better than this on the outside. You're better off just going with a flashlight if you're stuck outside with one of these things and need to properly light your cigar. Unfortunately I asked for a replacement, thinking it was a lemon, but the second had the same issues. It will burn if a mouse hasn't farted near you then it will go out. Pretty bad overall and I will definitely not look to Xikar for lighters in the future.

Pros
  • All great!
Cons
  • Expensive
