Just tried to model a mouthguard and messed up despite reading the instructions that came with it. I put it in boiling water for 10 seconds, let it cool for a second, then put it in my mouth to shape it. Instructions should include before and after photos. One side of the guard was fine as it covered my top and bottom teeth. The other side buckled, however, and I ended up digging into it. At the moment it is impossible to fix / redo it. You really only have one chance to get it right. A look at the tutorial doesn't help much either. Now I have to look for a new mouthguard. FYI, the plastic doesn't feel that thick after pouring.
