Review on Dell UltraSharp U2711: 27 Inch Widescreen Monitor with High Resolution, Anti-Glare Display by Keith Griffin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great monitor, multiple inputs

I've been using this monitor for a long time and I'm very satisfied. This is by far the best monitor I've ever seen. I prefer it over a 27-inch Mac display because I don't like glossy screens, the colors aren't as good, and the brightness is brighter than I need. I like the matte bezel and anti-reflective coating, the high pixel density. (higher than U3011), diverse inputs, impressive picture quality and color reproduction. This monitor has a decent refresh rate and is suitable for FPS games. Connect DVI, DisplayPort and HDMI. Not sure if HDMI is supported for 30-bit color, but DisplayPort is supported for it (DVI doesn't support it). My only complaint with this monitor is that input switching is slow - about 5-10 seconds slower. Otherwise I have no problems. The text is very clear, the light spots are not visible at all. The contrast is excellent. I was in love with my 2407WFP (24", 1920x1200) but it's better than this monitor in every way. I've been using 16x9 for a while and love it; however, I can't tolerate 1080p on the display as it's not for my purposes There is enough vertical pixel space 2560x1440 is the normal resolution.

Pros
  • 60 Hertz
Cons
  • The monitor refresh rate is too slow.
