I ordered this vest because I thought it would improve visibility and safety for my hunting dogs and also help them stay cool on 80-90 degree days in the field. There are fiery orange life jackets for hunting dogs and the like, but this one has the advantage of being a cooling jacket. So I decided to give it a try. First I ordered a small one. I have 3 dogs and their chest sizes are 25", 26" and 27". According to the size chart the little one should fit all 3. It is perfect for a 25" dog. The 26 inch hound is longer at the loin and feels too short but fits the chest well. It doesn't fit a 27 inch dog at all. It was like trying to stuff it in a sausage casing. I'm afraid to order Wednesday for him because I think it will be huge. If your dog is barely between sizes I would suggest ordering a size up, especially if your dog has a longer, thicker coat. First, it's good. The material of this product resembles a swimsuit. I like the big cutouts around the arm and shoulder. This allows you to move freely. I dunked him in the water and we went for a quick swim. Normally my dog jumps in the pool as soon as we finish a run but this time with the Jet Stream vest she skipped her post workout workout to cool off. Was it because she was actually cooler and didn't feel like she had to jump in the pool? Since I can't ask her, I just have to assume the vest made her more comfortable. I know it's supposed to be light, but I think it'll rip to shreds in the brush. Maybe not. I just don't see him holding the thorns and spikes. In addition, the zipper is very small and thin. My first impression is that this product will keep your dog really cool, but I don't think it's intended for field work or walking through thick weeds. I think this will work well for those who are training their dog in an urban setting or walking on a leash on established trails. It just doesn't look like it can withstand the abuse of heavy bushes and naughty brushwood. I will update the review once thoroughly tested.
