I bought this ring lamp specifically for photographing our board games. Although the advertised use of this light is more for live broadcast and other video applications, I also found it ideal for photography. However, I would like to warn you that I am NOT a professional photographer, just someone who loves to shoot for fun. My biggest concern when photographing board games in progress is the overhead lighting that creates either the table or the board game components. This ring light solves the problem by changing the angle of illumination from a straight head position to a low angle tilted position. This eliminates hot spots and allows for creative use of shadows and other lighting techniques. My only complaint, if I could call it that, is that I would have liked a little more brightness at my disposal. This is a minor issue and is only noticeable when the room itself is too bright. Overall though, I was happy with it, and its light weight makes it easy to move around when needed.
