No one wants to buy a drill just to use at home once in a while. However, sometimes this is required to clear the drain. And compared to other brands, this device is a bit expensive for the quality received. To be honest it's pretty cheap. But this will get the job done. There are a few things to note: 1) There is no documentation. So if you've never used any of these, do yourself a favor and watch some videos on YT first. This saves you a lot of trouble. 2) DO NOT use in the toilet! While it may "work," it's not a real toilet snail. There are snails specifically for toilets (sometimes called closet snails). These devices are long (6 feet) and have a thicker cord (at least 2 times thicker than this snail). They also have a special angle at the end of the snail. This angle fits into the bowl drain hole and protects the toilet bowl from scratches. A flushing auger (like this one currently under review) will scratch your toilet like hell. 3) There is no nozzle for a drill. Many drills (in the same price range and cheaper) have a power drill tip that is located on the back of the drill body. This way you don't have to turn the knob by hand. The drill does all the work for you. All these devices are controlled manually. 4) Finally, use the gloves provided or put on a pair of thick work gloves. This unit is pre-lubricated. That way you'll get your hands all dirty pulling the cord in and out (not to mention what's coming out of the sewer!).
