Great entry price, big learning curve

Expect many hours of experimentation after your first successful print. I went through the block model to simulate settings, prints by prints, I used 3 resin types made by elegoo, grey, translucent red and black, I successfully printed 2 prints at the max build plate size, each printed for 16 hours , worked perfectly. Since these prints were printed it has been almost impossible to reproduce the original quality. I have yet to find out if it's me or the printer, but I'd say expect hours of frustration. Moderate success followed. If I had more confidence I would buy a higher quality model from another manufacturer, this is great for learning the basics of resin 3D printing and what it is, but not every print seems to be repeatable. I'm using 3 resins from Elegoo, the gray works great, the translucent red is great again, but the black resin fails, always fails, regardless of settings or exposure time, just the UV source doesn't seem strong enough to attach to the build plate to stick . Satisfied warning that this has a high learning curve, expect your first 15 hours to be trial and error with little success for 3D printing beginners. Also, please expect a high learning curve and avoid using black resin. You have to experiment with resins. I have found that this printer needs at least 3-5 additional priming steps for elgoo resins in the exposure settings and at least x12 for bottom exposure to have success with elegoo resins otherwise the print will fail and at least 10-15 initial priming steps required are a solid raft for a print that needs support. Conclusion: A big learning curve, you need to understand the basics of 3D models and computers to constantly experiment with resins, and the maintenance of the main equipment is necessary and tedious.

Pros
  • Enhanced 2K LCD screen
Cons
  • Not fancy
