The instructions say to mix before use and I definitely recommend mixing a lot. It contains a lot of oils and even after mixing it was still very oily. I wouldn't recommend it for people with oily skin, but for those with dry skin, this is a miracle. I can smell the lavender and grapefruit distinctly, although the grapefruit overpowers the lavender a bit. The instructions also recommend using it twice a week, but it's so greasy I only use it once a week.
