First, pullers come with standard nuts. No lock nuts. Not nylon. Ordinary Nuts. Using a 4" motor I found that the center section where the pins attach via a pair of sheet metal brackets is wider than the pins so the sheet metal brackets are skewed. Lubricated the puller threads and began trying to remove the pulley from the 5hp motor. Briggs engine. The first thing that happened was that the mother flew off. I put them back and tightened them with a wrench, and then the nut flew off one by one. Nuts came off. Then the middle part failed. Switched to a 6" puller to get the puller off the last 1/2" and he started losing nuts. Everything thrown in the trash.
