Review on Sun2Solar Clear 16-Foot Round Solar Cover 1600 Series Heat Retaining Blanket For In-Ground And Above-Ground Round Swimming Pools Use Sun To Heat Pool Water Bubble-Side Facing Down In Pool by Scott Yenson

Best to lock in warmth

We got about an inch of rain last night. The pool temp dropped 3 degrees; from 86 to 83. I live in Massachusetts and I have a heated 24’ round pool. The 10-12 mil would have dropped 5-8 degrees. No cover would have dropped 10-12 degrees.I only run the heater 10am - 3pm. So it’s not a factor in the cover’s ability. The cover is noticeably heavier and thicker than my first solar. But it is fat superior. It probably weighs 5-10 pounds heavier in each section. When you pull it back onto the pool, you do it in 6-8’ sections. It’s thicker and less flexible. So it’s a little tougher to make it do what you want. LOL. Use 1 1/2” PVC to build a cradle that hangs from the top rail. 1” is too light and will snap.

Pros
  • MINIMIZE WATER EVAPORATION - The use of a solar cover helps in preventing up to 95% of pool water evaporation. When not enjoying a refreshing swim, keeping your pool covered lessens the vast amount of water lost into the environment. Fill up your swimming pool less and enjoy it more!
Cons
  • May not provide adequate heat retention during extended periods of rain or cloudy weather
