I have a 2005 (MK4) GLI. When the auxiliary water pump started struggling and not working at all, it caused some overheating issues when the car was turned off for a few minutes and then restarted. It was a normal temp (190) when I turned it off, then it was around 220 when I turned it back on. I believe the extremely hot coolant has pooled in certain areas of the cooling system causing large hot spots. Since this is so bad for turbochargers, I decided to pull the trigger on this purchase. This is probably the cheapest option and works great. Machine satisfied, works as it should.
