I have Code P0128 Coolant Temperature Not High Enough on my 2003 Chevy Express Van with 6.0L Gasoline Engine. Weeks before the code appeared, a local mechanic replaced the original thermostat after noticing my temp gauge was low. Unfortunately it wasn't the thermostat. I checked the coolant temp with my scan tool before replacing the old sensor. It read 61 degrees Fahrenheit, the new one installed in a cold engine read 77. As I warmed up the engine, the new read 194-198, the old read about 154 degrees Fahrenheit, which led the computer to believe the engine had stalled. runs too cold, throwing out code and putting the motor in open loop, resulting in loss of power. Now it works much better. FYI, the easiest way to get to the sensor is to open the hood. It is located on the cylinder head on the driver's side. It is located next to spark plug #1. Remove the plug and then use a ยพ inch wrench to remove the sensor.
