I unplugged the old connector and installed the new one. Installed it and it doesn't fit. The numbers on the outside of the barrel are the same as the old ones. I then went to compare the piece to the old one I had reworked just to make sure I positioned the new one correctly. Got the old rear back into the gear plate with no problems. Then I discovered in the new piece that two tongues were broken off in the new verse of the old one. It can be seen in the new image at the 12 o'clock and 4 o'clock positions. Not sure how it happened but before I received it it showed no wear or previous use. It is necessary to order a new one in order to back up the car and start it.
