Review on Optimized ROKR Wooden Mechanical Treasure Projects by Lance Gunn

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Frustrating and three hours of work

I actually had my eye on the marble walkway first but having never done anything from this brand before I thought I should start with something simpler. Very well designed 3D puzzle and the finished product looks exquisite. My problem is really how hard it is to put some parts back in place. I mean, I have very weak grip strength, so the later steps where you have to wiggle and get the part in place were very difficult. And wooden parts are not strong enough to withstand hammer blows. Luckily, with the help of my 8 year old toy hammer and my trusty pair of tweezers, I manage to tap the edge gently without damaging the wood too much. before you realize that shapes with a + next to them are complementary shapes. And I was hoping that my 8 year old Lego and puzzle enthusiastic kid could enjoy this project with me. No, he might be able to follow the instructions, but to build this thing a kid would need to be fairly advanced in manual dexterity. Anyway, it took me about 2-3 hours mostly to figure out how to rattle/wiggle things. in place. There were many doubts as to whether the finished project would actually work or not. It worked and disappointment aside, I'm impressed with the design. Definitely worth it if you enjoy collecting puzzles like this. Now I'm thinking about collecting and donating some others as you can hide the trinket inside.
