This has quickly become a favorite part of my morning routine! This is my first fully automatic coffee machine and espresso machine. I had a Nespresso Vertuo and loved the Intenso and Stormio flavored coffees and the Diavolito espresso shots. I made the switch for environmental reasons and to save money. The Nespresso machine was cheaper, but each Vertuo pod was $1, and with the amount of coffee I drink (2-3 cups a day), I regret limiting my coffee experience. Compared to a $15 per pound bag of coffee that can make over 40 espresso/coffee shots. The Philips 2200 will definitely save you money in the long run. From an environmental point of view, while Nespresso recycles via UPS, I can't help but think of the additional carbon footprint required to manufacture the capsules, return the capsules, recycle the capsules, etc. With Philips, you only throw the used one Put away (and the bag at the end of 40+ servings). Flavor wise I used Peet's Organic French Roast Beans and adjusted the factory grind settings down a notch (for a slightly finer grind) and after about 5 cups this machine was making dark, roasted, smoky coffee and espresso with nice crema and flavor . which certainly accelerated my consumption of that first pound of coffee. Again, this is my first fully automatic espresso machine and I'm not a barista; but this machine is very pragmatic economically and ecologically.
