I read the reviews on this product before I bought it. First, I've always wanted a pink princess phone. Now, at my age, I finally have one. I just hate these cordless phones so I wanted something old school. A check revealed that the handset cord was plugged into the left side of the phone. The picture looks like this but mine connects to the right side of the phone. Some reviews said the phone buzzes, but I don't have this problem. The phone sounds crisp and clear. Nothing broken, scratched, dented or damaged on the phone. At the bottom are three switches: one for low/high volume, one for tone/pulse, and one for ringer on/off. The good old weight of this phone. When I answer, he doesn't fall to the ground. It has a strong, heavy base. A nice old-fashioned call, not the shrill chirp of new phones. Some have complained that the handset falls off the stand too easily. I didn't think that was true. It has no caller ID. I hook it up to an old Bell Telephone caller ID device that I have had for many years. Works great. There is no dial illumination like the original. Nice vintage phone cord, a slightly cooler shade of pink than the phone itself. People have complained about the black phone cord but I used a silver one instead. No problem. I find it much easier to hold the phone on long calls than bulkier cordless phones. Basically I like it! I only gave it four stars because the dial doesn't light up. I would recommend this phone.
