I'm going to start this review with what I think are the downsides of this monitor, because there really aren't that many. someone else. It really is all based on personal preference. I'll try to be as objective as possible. AFTER. Above all. Price. Quality doesn't come cheap, and the Dell U2711 is no exception. I've thought long and hard about the Dell U3011 but the price has always put me off and the U2711 wasn't much cheaper. However, I stumbled across this $650 monitor again the other day. My answer? Shut up and take my money. The cheapest I've seen are around $900. I hope they keep getting cheaper because I plan to buy at least two more in the future. II. The size. 27 inches larger than the average desktop monitor, but the U2711 is a beast and heavy. The FED EX driver was quick to comment. I don't think it's a big scam though. I want my computer hardware to be durable and well built. If you plan to ride this beast, buy a very good mount. III. Ghosting and Response Time. My last monitor was a 27" Samsung Syncmaster. I don't notice a big difference in response time. The 1ms vs. 6ms response time is almost zero. I find games have a halo. This can be a hindrance for FPS players Will need more time to play different games to really test this So far I've only played Skyrim and it seems ok IV Anti-glare The anti-glare coating is only noticeable on white for the most part It doesn't bother me. I really like this PROSI. Permission. The main reason I bought this monitor. Wanted to play 1440p. It's even better than I thought. You'll never want to go back to 1080p.II. Color. It wasn't exactly what I thought , and that worries me a lot. My Samsung monitor had great colors but this thing throws it off course. Growth from 16.7 million to 1.07 billion - day and night. I can see why a photographer would love this monitor e. III. inputs. I've never seen so many inputs on one monitor. I particularly like the USB and SD card slots. Although someone should probably tell Dell that VGA cables aren't standard anymore. A VGA cable was plugged into the back of the box. Maybe they're just trying to get rid of them? I was distracted. I was happy to see that it came with cables, even a displayport cable was included. A premium monitor must come with all accessories. thanks Dell.IV. Control. Better controls. Seriously, every monitor I've had had terrible controls. Switching between different presets and changing the brightness is very easy. housing and stand. This is a professional monitor and it definitely shows. It's not shiny or useless. There were no annoying stickers on the monitor. I love the stand on this monitor. It doesn't look like it could break after 6 months. It's built to last. It also slides up and down, which is my favorite feature, as well as left and right. In general, the body is very simple. Minimalists will love this. I know what I am doing. VI. Package. U2711 came in very good packaging. I was impressed. Final Thoughts There are very few reasons not to buy this monitor. In the future I might regret not going for the U3011, but back then the price of the U2711 was much lower so the choice was obvious. If that's the case and the price difference is less than $200, go for the U3011. Another reason not to buy this monitor is whether your system can handle the resolution. Skyrim runs at around 30-40 fps on my system. Although it might run higher if I didn't have about 20 graphics mods installed. Here are my specs so you have an idea of what you need. Z68 Graphics: MSI Radeon 7950 with Arctic Accellero 7970 cooler SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB Hard Drive: Standard Edition 1TBPSSU, 850W thermal power supply, modular. You can probably get by with lower specs, but you'll suffer a performance hit. 2560x1440 = 3,686,400 pixels, 1920x1080 = 2,073,600. That's almost 60% more pixels than your computer can handle. 1080p pushes many PCs to their limits anyway. I also recommend new purchases. Presumably some of the earlier models had problems. Hope that was informative.
