Updated review: Southwest Airlines did a great job! It's quite large by their standards (although no staff member said anything about that), but it easily compresses to carry-on size without sacrificing my dog's personal space. Actually, I'll add another star because I'm very happy with this bag. ATTENTION, this bag does NOT fit the 737-700. Our first flight was on a Boeing 737-800 and the bag slipped right under and we still had room for a blanket and a pair of headphones. 700 was a very hard compression. Luckily our boy was small enough to have room above his head when he lay down so he was still comfortable. If your dog is over 17 inches I wouldn't risk taking him to the 700. Overall my dog seemed very happy in the bag and I am very happy too. I barely realized I had a 13 pound Chihuahua on my back as I walked from gate to gate and had no back pain after carrying it all day. I also like that it has multiple pockets to put things like a wallet and travel bowl. craft to win!) and it worked great. If it weren't for the accordion issue, this bag could easily have gotten 5 stars! While landing on the 737-700 was a little risky, I would definitely use it again when we're on a plane with our dog. the future________________________________First review: I was apprehensive when I opened the box. The backpack was in a box with a plastic bag in it to be wrapped, crumpled up and casually tossed over it. The bag that was supposed to contain a bowl of water was also crumpled up and just dangling around in the box. So strange! I think someone must have returned it sooner. Our dog is an odd size - he's a 13 lb Chihuahua Border Collie mix and he fits great! He walked right in, lay down and seemed really comfortable! He's sound asleep inside with the side door open as I type this. Minus: When I lifted it, the sides collapsed on it completely. It looks like it's shaped like an accordion on my back. Good enough! We will make sure it works for our flight. And our pup loves it, and that's all that really matters. :)
