At the time of writing this review, the Razer Kraken TE only has a rating of approximately 3.5 stars. Let me tell you straight away that most of the reviews for this product that are less than 4 stars are complaining about things they just don't know how to use. For example, the headset comes with an audio controller that can be attached with an adhesive backing. There are several buttons on this controller, one of which controls THX Spatial Audio. I believe that many of the users who have complained about this feature not working did not do their research. You should never buy a product before doing your research. I hate when these products' ratings go down because people don't know what they're doing. For THX Spatial Audio to work you must be using this audio controller AND you must have Razer Synapse 3 installed on your computer. You can still use headphones without an audio controller, but you CANNOT use THX Spatial Audio. Before you start complaining about how annoying this is, you should really consider what Razer is trying to achieve here. It is evident from both the marketing and the device configuration that they use this THX Spatial Audio to enhance the gaming experience. That doesn't mean they don't sound great for music or anything else, I can assure you, but it does mean you don't need that spacious sound unless you're using it for gaming. You need to understand all the ins and outs of a product in this price range before you buy it, and it's easy to understand. If there aren't enough pictures and descriptions, then check out the reviews/box releases on YouTube! Most if not all of your questions will be answered and you won't feel like you got what you paid for! The Razer Synapse 3 software is one of the many gems that make this product stand out. With this software you can easily do the following: - Fine-tune certain audio settings to your liking. These include improvements like sound normalization and speech clarity, and you can also use the equalizer to adjust 10 individual frequencies. - Adjust/toggle microphone settings. This includes enhancements, sensitivity, volume, and even local audio. Sidetone lets you hear what your mic is picking up, WITHOUT DELAY, so you can hear yourself and your real-world surroundings through your headset. - Adjust the sound for specific applications with the mixer. You can choose per app whether you prefer stereo or surround sound, and you can also calibrate and adjust spatial audio if you hear differently. - Manage/create multiple presets containing all of the above settings to switch between them. to fly. You can even assign these presets to apps so your headset automatically switches to them whenever you use a specific app. When you stop using this app, it will go back to what you were using before. The mic sounds as good as, if not better than, the other Razer Kraken headset mics and, as mentioned, can be customized with Razer Synapse. 3. The headset is very comfortable and the cooling gel ear pads are fantastic. They feel great and overall the headset is very light. For those wondering, the construction is plastic and lightweight aluminum. As advertised, the top pillow is definitely softer than previous Kraken iterations, and at times it feels like I'm not even wearing a headset! Good build quality and comfort. The audio controller accepts headphone inputs in the form of a 3.5mm audio jack and outputs them to a computer via USB. I know I wrote a bit about the audio controller earlier in the review, but here are its features: - Volume up/down buttons - Microphone mute button - Bass control - Game/chat balance control - Toggle the THX Spatial Audio button headset cable too There is a simple built in audio controller that allows you to do the following: - volume control - microphone mute button The main thing everyone wants to know is how they sound? Well I personally think they sound great and are a clear upgrade from my previous Kraken 7.1 Chroma headset. I use THX Spatial Audio for gaming and it's really crazy how easy it is to tell where everything is in the game. It was one of the first things I noticed when I first started using them while gaming. In conclusion, I would like to say that this headset is really insanely good, especially for the price. I felt I should give credit by writing a long enough review to go through most of the features and shed some light on some misinformed/uninformed reviews. I've spent a lot of time writing this and hopefully at least some of you found it useful. If you have any questions just let us know and have a nice day/night. Please excuse any spelling/grammatical errors. If I made a big mistake in my letter, please let me know and I will correct it.
