This product works very well IF you have 70 percent gray or more. Unless you're mostly gray, it will be darker than you want and you'll miss the multicolor effect. It is not intended to hide some gray hairs, but is intended for people with mostly gray hair. My hair is naturally fine and curly in texture. I started using L'Oreal Preference when I was about 40 and gradually switched to L'Oreal Excellence when I started going gray. When it came out I switched to Age Perfect and opted for a lighter shade than Excellence. The tone on tone and highlights are wonderful, my hair is soft and the multicolored shades really help blend my roots as they grow out allowing me to last longer between color sessions. The thin hair at the temples resists the formula a bit but goes well with my colored hair.
