I took this stove to heat the kettle to make instant ramen on a canoe trip. This worked great as I already carried a bunch of 1lb jerry cans of propane for my flashlight. In previous years I had a camping butane gas stove with me. To do this, I had to pack two types of fuel. This stove required an adapter for use with a 1 lb propane tank. The stove is compact and takes up very little space in the canoe. The only downside is that you need a level cooking surface otherwise anything you put on the stove will slide off. This wasn't a problem for me as all campsites along the river had picnic tables during our canoe trip. The stove on a flat surface was stable enough for me to heat water in an 8 liter pot. It took some time to bring all the water to a boil. But it took quite a long time to boil cold water in a two-liter teapot.
