It's great. I keep it in my TV room as that's where I always plug in my laptop. That's where I keep my keyboard and mouse. I just never got used to the whole trackpad thing, and ever since then it's been easy to carry a thin keyboard and wireless mouse with me. I don't have to tap it while it's on the stand. I love that it has a pass-through USB hub to run the fans I would say. If you're using one of the mouse/keyboard combos that uses a single USB dongle, you're fine. In any event, I've been happy with it, including the digital fan speed, as these shortcodes can be sketchy at times and I expect the digital alternative won't have this issue. In any case, it works great and I'm very happy with it.
