Review on πŸ’ͺ Enhanced Performance with TP-Link N300 High Powered USB Adapter (TL-WN8200ND) by Tray Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So far so good - hope it stays reliable!

Hermes Powerlink worked just as well but. I went through 3 of them so I had to try something different (everything broke in a few months!). This adapter uses the same basic chipset (Realtek 8192). I really hope it turns out to be reliable because it's very, very good. PROS: This adapter has allowed me to connect to remote networks at faster speeds than many other dongles. Reception is much better than the two rt2800 based adapters I have (EDUP EP-MS8515) and the RT3072 adapter (widemac SL-3504N). I can even connect to the wifi at a coffee shop outside with reasonable speed (3 blocks but almost line of sight). CONS: The only downside I can find after using it for a few weeks is that I had some trouble getting it to work on Linux. This is in contrast to other reviews here - and this may be due to my inexperience with Linux so please take that with a grain of salt. It works but it took me a while to find the right driver in Ubuntu. Not sure what the other review says when they say they went to the website to install the drivers when they plugged it in. If there was no driver, how did they get a website? FYI: On Linux, the "lsusb" command says the adapter is "2357:0100".
