The CD that was sent did not automatically install the sound card on my computer. I had to open the files on the drive, select the file that matches the operating system on my computer, and then ask it to install. I expected to just install the card and let the computer or drive do the rest, but it works and that's all that matters. I had to get this card because my internal sound card was bad on my motherboard. Your motherboard has a slot for this card. Before installing, unplug your computer and clean out all dust while you're at it. I used my vacuum and an old toothbrush. Also, make sure you select the new card you want to use in the volume control, otherwise you might still be trying to use the wrong sound card.
