I'm a fireman in the wild. It's a long story, but suffice it to say I sometimes come home with boxes full of "used" AA batteries. These people have worked at the field radio station for one shift, and at the end of the shift they are rotated regardless of whether the radio station has been used or not. Communication is too important a security issue to risk. So I come home with hundreds of batteries. Some are completely used up, many are still good and some are like new. I bought an Amprobe BAT-250 to test these batteries and it seems to work fine. This season I took it out and it didn't work. I would check the battery and he would say he was fine. I'd check a few more and he'd declare them bad. Then I went back and tested the one that he said was good and he said was bad. I have no idea how such a simple tool fails, but I'd throw 100 good AAs in the trash if I didn't know it didn't work. This is very bad. I loved my little Amprobe BAT-250 but I think these testers are kind of a tool for a season.
