Review on JBL Flip Bluetooth Connection Black by Nick Colton

Sounds great, iPhone connects smoothly

My morning doesn't start without Morning Edition, but hotel radios never work. Was looking for a portable Bluetooth speaker for wireless applications. Planned to buy Solemate or Jambox so I went to Best Buy. I listened to Flip on the seller's recommendation. It sounded better than the others, felt a little more solid, and cost a lot less. Would have bought locally but they were so popular they couldn't be kept in stock or even ordered online. . Now I had to find it. For both voice and music, it sounds great to my middle-aged non-audio ears. Connecting to the iPhone was a breeze; The only apps that lose connection are those that are muted when the phone goes to sleep while on battery power (i.e. the WUNC app disappears, but Pandora doesn't). When the phone was connected I had no problems. With an hour of playtime every morning, the battery lasted a week without a connection to the mains. The cable is long enough to leave plugged in for extended use. It lies flat or can stand up when space is limited and I haven't noticed any wobbling. The power and volume buttons are easily accessible in any position. I love that it includes a carry case, but I wish there was a pocket or drawstring in this case. Too bad JBL didn't have a standard mini-USB so travelers didn't have to carry around another cable and plug. White looks really nice - I wish I had chosen white for the iPhone and iPad. WorldWide Stereo arrived on time and securely packaged. Would buy from them again.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • There are nuances
