Many years ago I tried to train our other dogs with a bell on the doorknob. It wasn't very successful. I stumbled upon this and bought it to train our new Frenchie puppy. It worked! We attached it to the bottom of the door frame. I thought it would bother you, but it doesn't. It was several days before she called every time we went out somewhere. Now she calls herself when she wants to go out. We haven't had a single accident since she found out! This particular bell is small, if you have a rough or large dog you may need a larger bell. The quality of this bell seems durable and is suitable for small breeds or gentle dogs.
