This device works as it should. It perfectly copies DVDs (but not store bought ones) whether the original is European or American. That doesn't mean it turns a European DVD into an American one. It simply copies everything that is on the original DVD. It also creates a decent DVD with photos from a 4GB SD card (a Cannon camera in my case), but doesn't include embedded videos shot on the camera card. My biggest disappointment is that this unit cannot play DVDs from my Sony camcorder's SDHC card. I'm constantly looking for a device that can do this and haven't found one yet. After some discussion with a spartan tech guy, he told me he would back up the Sony SDHC camcorder data, which could then be played back on a computer (Macbook Pro in my case after a VLC update). But even though I now have a 6 DVD backup of the camcorder's SDHC data (for a 32G card), I can't play it on any DVD player, which is what I was hoping for. I will keep Spartan because I always need DVD copies.
