Review on LANMU Bottle Holder Torches Outdoor by Heidi Thompson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works GREAT with a few caveats. I will buy again!

I bought 3 packs to try. I already have a few tiki lights on poles and a few on small stands, but I wanted to use some of my empty liquor bottles. Short review - very happy and they work great! Now for the details. wick of great length. . I put the first one in a Goldschlager bottle, as it has a nice, wide base and is hard to accidentally knock over. The wick on this bottle had extra length, so instead of cutting it to length, I just twisted it as I put it in the bottle so it wraps around the bottom a bit for better oil absorption. Well, with the original O-rings, the wick pushed the brass fitting back out of the bottle. Yes, this general assessment is confirmed. Even with two O-rings installed, it doesn't stay inside. So I rolled on the thicker o-ring I had (a set is cheap at just about any hardware store or Walmart, dammit even dollar stores have them). With the thicker o-ring installed it stays in place with no issues, no squeezing out of the bottle. Don't have an oring handy? Simply trim the wick so it touches the bottom of the bottle and doesn't pop out. Excellent! Lighting? zero problems. On the NEW wick I placed it on top of the filled bottle and then gave the bottle a few gentle shakes (keeping the brass fitting in place) to wet the top of the wick. Then he put a few drops on the wick to wet it with oil. He gave her 10 seconds, then she lit it. It lit up immediately and wouldn't go out. I've used it about half a dozen times and it never stops glowing. Excellent! Including small metal caps. I lost a star here. They are metal and the chain is fine. BUT. Does the chain go through the hole in the top of the cap!? sooo Rain. No, water enters the wick through the hole at the top. And the caps aren't really high/deep enough to actually cover the wick and brass fitting at the top - they should be about half that length. So if they were longer and the chain attached at the bottom or pinned at the top, that would be great too. Caps will just be OK. All in all I recommend them! Just remember you will need a thicker o-ring or trim the bottom of the wick so that it just touches the bottom of the bottle and doesn't push the fitting out of the bottle.

Pros
  • Pretty pack
Cons
