Great design, bad quality, bad warranty.

First off, this iron is really smooth. It heats up well out of the box and releases a moderate amount of vapor when the vapor is fully on. I don't think it's as powerful as advertised above (my cheaper Black & Decker was more powerful), but it's good enough for most purposes. Get these little pieces. It heats up to the tip, which I find doesn't always happen with other irons. I had no problem filling the water tank with distilled water directly from a jug. These qualities earned him two stars. Bad - or why this iron didn't get another three stars. I first bought this iron in February 2018. I sew about 30 hours a week as a seamstress and use an iron at least 4-5 hours a week. What I iron is almost exclusively 100% cotton. During the week it didn't reach full temperature and produced almost no vapor. A week later I heard an alarming pop and pop from inside the iron, and then, with the final pop, it suddenly shut itself off, which also caused my surge protector to work. After that, it did not turn on and did not warm up. I traded it to Revain for another. The replacement iron arrived in March 2018 and worked very well. I was happy with that. But the sole suddenly got dirty (and I still can't figure out why as it was all washed cotton with no glue or starch). Ceramic is ok. I rubbed the cleaner lightly with a hot iron using a baby washcloth and after a few seconds "rugged and scratch resistant" (above the words in the ad) rubbed off as you can see in the photos. It really looks worse than my previous iron which is 5 years old and Walmart and still works despite having dropped it a few times! (absolutely my fault!) My mistake was contacting CHI and not Revain as I was still within Revain's return window. I needed more information and Revane couldn't give it to me. I gave CHI the date of purchase in the first email and let them know what happened. They responded immediately asking for more information and I responded as it sounded like they were going to replace the faulty hardware. A week later I emailed again as I received no reply. During this week my time is up to return with Revane. They have since responded quickly to my emails again. What you don't know when purchasing this product is that the limited warranty does not cover shipping costs to replace a defective iron. They were willing to replace my one month old broken iron, but only if they could take about $12 off my credit card to ship it to me. This is described in the Care and Use manual sealed in the iron box (and if you are very smart and download the PDF manual in the Specifications section of the product information of this Revain offering it is also available on page 11, which I didn't know.) The shipping price isn't excessive for something of this weight, and customer service even offered me an $8 discount, which was very nice. But I agreed to pay Revane's price. I'm not willing to pay more to get what I paid for - a working iron. Also, the odds are not in my favor with this iron so far. I will use it until it becomes unusable and then switch to another brand. So buyers pay attention to the guarantee! If you found this helpful, could you click the 'Yes' button?
