Review on πŸ“Ÿ White ABS Stratux Case equipped with Fan for Enhanced Performance by Robin Naber

Revainrating 4 out of 5

They need better quality control.

This is the second case. The first came with 6 screws to hold the case together, only 5 had screw heads, 1 was only threaded, more like a pin. Since the fan didn't work, I sent everything back. The fan seems to be an issue as there are several reviews stating the fan is not working. This is a fallback case. The fan didn't work again. I took a closer look and found that the polarity on the connector was reversed, I swapped the connector and plugged it in upside down and the fan works. This isn't really a problem unless I need to use the pins mounted right next to the connector on the board. The fan also doesn't fit snugly and can "float or rattle", I'll probably glue it in place with a dab of limestone or hot melt. Another issue, the location of the antenna makes it difficult to route the antenna wires and assemble everything. I was planning to upgrade to Stratux UAT and 1090 receivers but I may not be able to install them as I am using an external GPS antenna and the UAT chip looks like it is interfering with the GPS antenna connector attachment. This is a good case. . Looks good but needs quality control. Little things like a missing screw head, reverse polarity on the fan connector, and improper fan installation are things that shouldn't be a problem when you're dealing with one of the most expensive ADS-B cases you can buy. If I had to do it again, I would probably save 20% and buy a competitor's case that also has 2 fans.

Pros
  • Molded white ABS with flame retardant.
Cons
  • will be added later
