I've had one for a few years now. I really liked my KitchenAid hand mixer that I had years ago. I figured I wouldn't have to spend as much this time, so I bought a cheaper Black & Decker. It will handle the thickest batter, but finer mixing is not for this mixer. The slowest speed is comparable to the top speed of a KitchenAid hand mixer. It's a pain when you want to mix flour for cookie dough and whip as little as possible, but you can't mix the frosting and create a cloud of powdered sugar. I figured I'd get used to it, otherwise it wouldn't make much of a difference, but lately I've really enjoyed baking less.
