Review on Spectra Premium VTS1082 Variable Solenoid by Tim Wheeler

Wrong part due to lack of attention to detail.

I have had good luck using Spectra for my cars over the years but this is a very disappointing purchase. But that's hardly Spectra's fault. The VANOS magnet for my 2007 Mini Cooper S is failing, so this seems like a good price for a reputable manufacturer compared to knockoffs. However, as you can see from the photos, the "Magnet" looks completely different from the photos in the description, but the P/N is the same. Why the discrepancy? If you look closely at the box then this is the crankshaft position sensor (S10050) not the VANOS magnet. The label says it is a solenoid. This is a pretty big mistake on the part of Revain/Seller, although mistakes do happen. The two part numbers are far from the same. An asterisk refers to the labeling issue, not the part itself.
