Abus heals a girl properly

I like this lock. Convenient to use, stored right on the bike in a compact, durable case. From the street. It's surprisingly difficult. The locking mechanism is light and smooth. My previous lock, the Kryptonite U-lock, always felt like the key was worn rather than straight and I had a lot of trouble locking it. Had to return within the first month. The rough lock/lock mechanism is also characteristic of my husband's kryptonite bike lock. (although serviceable, it works well enough for him and…

As advertised. Solid in every way.

As advertised. Heavy but much easier to carry than a padlock. I just attach it to the rear bike rack with velcro straps. I don't feel any extra weight when riding. It's also very easy to use -- much easier than some reviewers say. I lock my bike through the rear wheel, through the frame and to a bike stand/rack/road stand. There is always enough space and length at the lock to secure my bike in this way. I also have gravity locking skewers on my wheels to prevent them from being stolen. My…

Heavy and durable - electronics

Heavy lock but reasonable for its security. The size seems to allow more flexibility in lock placement than a U-lock. I was able to attach the case to the bike frame with screws, but I was only able to use one of the two velcro straps that came with the case. Either way, it holds up well enough on the bike when traveling. Highly recommended. Edit: This was my original review. After a month of using the lock, the folding lock doesn't seem to close as easily as the U-lock. Yes, the lock surrounds

Robust yet flexible for electronics

I love this lock. I needed something that could be flexible and stand alone with my scooters and electric scooters and also be used as an extra lock with my electric bike. I like the flexibility of the links that I can use with my scooters even though they are heavy. My main goal with my electric bike was to ensure that when using the Abus Bordo in combination with my Hiplox DXC (14mm) the thief would ensure that the thief would have the equipment to pick two types of gold standard fixed locks…

Works great up to the stop.

This lock worked great until it broke. The key was inserted 2 days ago but not turned all the way. Then when I tried to get the key to work it broke into the lock. I tried to pull the piece out but couldn't after an hour of trying. Now I'm trying to cut off the lock, and it turns out to be very difficult. I had to call a locksmith to cut it off. He spent at least 10 minutes drilling out the joints. His big bolt cutters didn't do anything about it. The good news is that it takes an angle grinder

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Not the best

THE BEST LOCK if you can handle the weight and it fits your bike.

I have mixed feelings about this lock but in the end I decided to return it. That's why. Pros: I've done a lot of research and think this is the BEST lock to keep your bike from being stolen. While a professional thief can eventually get through, it will take some time, effort, and some powerful tools. Cons: - It's VERY HEAVY! But I knew that before I bought it. However, it didn't fit my smaller frame carbon road bike and was really too heavy to carry on my back. It attaches to my water bottle…

Great solution for fat tire e-bikes

I have an expensive fat tire e-bike worth over $1500. I wanted the most secure lock. The Abus top U-lock was just too limited due to the thickness of the bike. I have chosen the best and safest alternative. this folding lock. I understand the security limitations of folding locks versus U-locks. Abus gave it a 15th rating, as did the corresponding top U-lock, but it only gets 2 stars in the ACE tests when the U-lock gets 3 stars. It's just not that safe. But I park the bike at night so that in…

Saved me from buying a new bike!

I bought this lock a few months ago to feel secure when storing my bike at uni during class. Today it paid off. The thief has been working on it for some time. I shifted my bike a bit and bit off pieces of plastic; even slightly bent. Gave up and stole my saddlebag and lousy pump instead. Wish I could see it in action, could give a great review from Revain for a 5 star salt based membrane cavity cleaner. Enough parody. who like to be tricky with their bike racks. U-locks can be tricky to use on

A more flexible alternative to U-locks - priced at

more flexible cables. The problem with U-locks is twofold: first, they can be bulky and difficult to use, and second, their rigidity makes them difficult or impossible to use if you don't have a bike rack. If all you have is a lamppost, they're just useless. Abus Bordo 6500, also known as Granit X-Plus, is a less common padlock that is almost as strong as U-locks but without the limitations. Consisting of six interconnected metal rods, these "Link" locks fold into a smaller overall area and…
