Works well if you follow the instructions. I used it on the couch. I didn't use a cleaning machine. I waited for a half windy day. Soak stains (old and new) with this tool. Almost the whole bottle used. I installed a fan to blow air directly onto the damp surface. You must allow this product to dry completely in order for it to work. Dries from early morning to late evening. I really soaked the stains. The smell is gone. No smell even on wet days. The product itself smells good. Clean smell. I didn't worry about shampoo stains. I don't have expensive furniture and I live with animals. Most of my furniture is covered with beautiful sheets so the sofa fabric is never visible. If you're concerned about discoloration on this product, you may need to take more precautions than I do. My animals had no side effects from this product. Keep pets away until completely dry.
