So I found 1 inch (or an inch and a half, can't remember now, anyway I have the biggest ones available) bumpers and attached velcro to the seat to hold them in place and it worked! It sits just high enough that the seat doesn't put unnecessary force on the front edge of the bidet, where the jets hang, and far enough back that it doesn't interfere with the action of the spring, allowing it to open and close. Time. Note that the seat is only tightened to a 'tight' fit, not some hard 'must-hold-hold-wing' type?
