My original controller, model 1537, was finally starting to wear out after years of use, the thumb grips were worn out, the buttons stopped pressing and generally it just became unresponsive. I chose this newer generation controller because it matched the pattern of my original controller but was white. As a PC user, I don't really use many of the new features of the 1708 controllers, but I do like the now slightly textured grips of these controllers. The buttons and joysticks feel more solid, but that might just be my take on the worn controller. The photos don't really convey that, the controller definitely looks better in person. It's monotonous throughout, except for the 4 little colored dots next to each thumb button, as the buttons themselves are monotonous. The template is the same as other Special Forces Edition controllers.
