I have a Yaesu HT3D and yes the sound quality is not as good as other radios. I bought this for two reasons: 1. To improve the sound 2. To move the radio a little further away from my head when transmitting. It serves both purposes well. Especially the sound. It's sad that I had to spend more money to improve the sound of such a great radio but that's it. I would buy the radio again. I would also like to have this microphone. It's probably a bit overpriced, but if you decide to buy "OME" you just have to pay a little more. It's your choice but I really like this one and I'm glad I found it.
