There are several rotary graters with a similar design but after reading all the reviews I was impressed with this one and I love it. It is durable, simple in design and very functional. It's easy to disassemble (just turn back the crank) and a warm water rinse cleaned it completely. It would be handy for me to put it on the top shelf of the dishwasher unassembled, but I don't see the need for it. The trick is to hold it with the open side of the barrel down and the grip up. Then slowly rotate the handle. It takes very little pressure on the handle to push the cheese onto the grater. The cheese just needs to touch the grater. I just had friends over for lunch and used it to grate fresh parmesan into my salads. Worked like a dream.
