I have the original Kickstarter perch stand and the newer version listed here. Overall, this is a GREAT product, but buyers should be aware of what I think is the most important piece of information: you MUST use an external mouse and keyboard when using a stand like this, or a stand that increases the effective height of the laptop. This is pretty easy to understand when you think about ergonomics and what's good for the wrists is bad for the neck. The elevation changes the angle of the wrists for typing on the keyboard, which not only becomes uncomfortable much faster (compared to the neck strain caused by looking down at the screen), but typing becomes a chore due to the exaggeratedly unnatural angle. So who is this product ideal for? People using their computer standing with external keyboard and mouse. Unfortunately, most people choose not to carry this accessory in favor of portability, thereby reducing the value of this item. In summary, although cleverly designed and made in the USA (which I LOVE), this product is most likely not what you need. What's even more frustrating is that there are no legitimate portable solutions.
