Review on Samsung T5 Portable SSD MU PA500B by Thanaporn Amphaiwora ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits the description completely, very satisfying.

The drive was bought to install and work from it in Windows To Go, with which it does an excellent job. Now the operating system is always with you, you can boot from almost any computer / laptop (if you have a USB 3.0 port, because the 2nd version takes a long time to load + there are crashes). If you have a smartphone with a USB Type C port, it would seem that the bundled USB Type C -> USB Type C cable would not be superfluous, but in my case, the partition with the installed OS is formatted in NTFS, so when connected to the mobile, only the FAT32 system partition is visible in 350 MB with Windows activation data. In order for Android to see the NTFS partition, you need to install separate software (for example, Paragon), which does not suit me very much, so I cut off another partition from the Windows partition and formatted it in exFat, which Android is able to mount without unnecessary applications. Now about the built-in encryption - yes, a useful thing, and it does not affect the speed of the disk, but in my case it is inconvenient to use it, because. to enter a password, you must run the program on a running operating system. Those. Before loading Windows To Go from an SSD, you need to load the system installed on its HDD on your computer, in which you run the program to enter the password, and then, without disconnecting the SSD, restart the computer to boot from this SSD. Or, before connecting to a computer, connect the SSD to the phone, on which the encryption is completely disabled, then boot to the PC, which is too inconvenient, because. you will have to turn on / off encryption every time, setting and confirming the password again. In general, I disabled the built-in encryption. Bitlocker encrypted the NTFS partition with Windows, left the exFat partition unencrypted so that you can use it when connected from a smartphone.

Has pros: Speed, stability, compactness With its cons. Over time, the case is overwritten, but this is the most significant thing I can find fault with
