Great Toothbrush - HORRIBLE app Read Play Store reviews before you buy

The toothbrush may be modern BUT the Android app sucks! Before purchasing this toothbrush for Bluetooth app function, PLEASE read the independent reviews of the Philips Sonicare app on the Google Play Store. I wish I had. The app has an average rating of TWO stars out of five, and I believe anything above 2 stars was not an honest rating. My case is NOT isolated. The application is poorly written and contains "glitches". I bought this DiamondClean Smart Toothbrush to replace my old Philips Sonicare which died after about 3 years of use. After installing the Android app, I couldn't connect it to my toothbrush (and I'm an IT pro). I swallowed my pride and called Philips customer service. Yes, I called tech support about a toothbrush. I was told that the Bluetooth app "doesn't work well with other existing Bluetooth devices on the phone and I need to delete all other Bluetooth devices, clear the Bluetooth cache and then restart the phone!" So I was I was skeptical but took the advice. Instructions. rejection! The app searched for a toothbrush handle without success. During this test, the app kept complaining that "Bluetooth was disabled". Yes, I forgot to mention that the application requires GPS to be enabled. After a few minutes of playing around with the app and Bluetooth settings, the pen was discovered. The Philips Sonicare app only states that the pen will automatically connect to the app. It wasn't like that. After using the toothbrush FOUR times with the app, it lost its configuration and no longer recognizes the handle. No matter what I do with the phone's GPS and Bluetooth, the app can't see the fancy $200 Bluetooth stylus. While the app was running it couldn't properly track the brushing progress and while I followed the main points of the mouth layout in the app it was not reported correctly and ended up saying I had missed spots. Frustrated by the app crash, I'm disappointed that at the price of this toothbrush, Philips didn't take the time to listen to the protests of frustrated customers and continue to promote this misguided app as the best ever. The app is buggy and unreliable. If Philips fixes the broken app I might be interested in buying this high-tech DiamondClean toothbrush again, but for now I've come to the conclusion that it's NOT worth the disappointment. Choose Sonicare without Bluetooth or buy a product from another manufacturer.
