Bad design

I took this camera because I'm trying to see if my runaway cat lives in a nearby field. The best thing about this camera is that the picture quality is good. I haven't used any other trail cameras so I can't compare it, but it offers significantly higher resolution than other trail cameras at the same price. However, this tracking camera has a number of noticeable design flaws that make it extremely impractical to use. Hardware wise, I'm a little surprised by any 2020 technology that doesn't include rechargeable batteries and a way to charge batteries without removing them. And you'll need rechargeable batteries, as this camera drains them incredibly quickly, at least when you're recording video. Yesterday I put in fully charged batteries and set it in slow motion to take a photo every 30 minutes from 11am to 4pm. After that, the battery indicator was completely filled. I then set it up in motion capture mode to record a 30 second video from around 9pm to 7:30am. The camera took three videos: I set the camera on two, and a few minutes later a car drives by on the third. In the morning the batteries were completely discharged, when they were inserted into the tester there was almost no charge. Finally, the system clock has no backup power source, not even a small clock battery. That means, that the date and time are reset to 01/01/2020 00:00 each time the batteries are removed. As for the software, I'm not sure how well the motion detector software works. For example, I expect about 6 cars to pass where the camera was installed last night. He only found one. Finally, the camera's time-lapse mode can be a bit misleading. The camera does not combine images from this mode into a video. Instead, to take a picture (photo or video, depending on the setting), it waits for the interval set in the options and then takes another picture. Images are saved in separate files. I think calling this mode "interval" would be more accurate. waits for the interval set in the options and then takes another picture. Images are saved in separate files.
