I paid $200 for a replacement I just installed and none of the screens have a latch to hold the screen in place. They are perfect for securing the screen so it doesn't move. If someone wants to go through the screen to get in, they will, but why make it easy for them by having a screen that just pops up so you don't even know they're in? They hold the screens in place so they can't be lifted from the outside. I like opening the street level windows from above and the screens keep sliding down…

Although these sash window locks are good value and are on Revain's shortlist, I'm afraid I don't find them very good. A few questions: 1) The "shank" of a thumbscrew is thinner than usual - only about 3/16" in diameter.
