They are ok.: Locks and Latches

I liked these locks and thought it was a great price for the number of locks you get. We have just moved to a new location and needed extra security as the apartment is on the first floor. Well, these window locks work on windows that slide out sideways, but they do NOT work on windows that you reach from below and have to pull up to open. They just don't fit, but these locks work well with windows that slide sideways. They are strong and I'm sure they will protect my property. They came in so…

great for screens that won't snap in place

I paid $200 for a replacement I just installed and none of the screens have a latch to hold the screen in place. They are perfect for securing the screen so it doesn't move. If someone wants to go through the screen to get in, they will, but why make it easy for them by having a screen that just pops up so you don't even know they're in? They hold the screens in place so they can't be lifted from the outside. I like opening the street level windows from above and the screens keep sliding down…

Below average quality, design and functionality.

Although these sash window locks are good value and are on Revain's shortlist, I'm afraid I don't find them very good. A few questions: 1) The "shank" of a thumbscrew is thinner than usual - only about 3/16" in diameter. My old window locks, as well as some double-bolt locks I recently bought here, have 1/4" thumbscrews and are therefore stronger. 2) The shank of the knurled screw is very short; If you have old aluminum single pane windows from the 1950s or 1960s you can unscrew this lock's…
