Review on πŸ”’ Secure Your Home with 1 X Lot of 4 Pcs Sliding Window Lock (12 Pack) by Danny Porter

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Below average quality, design and functionality.

Although these sash window locks are good value and are on Revain's shortlist, I'm afraid I don't find them very good. A few questions: 1) The "shank" of a thumbscrew is thinner than usual - only about 3/16" in diameter. My old window locks, as well as some double-bolt locks I recently bought here, have 1/4" thumbscrews and are therefore stronger. 2) The shank of the knurled screw is very short; If you have old aluminum single pane windows from the 1950s or 1960s you can unscrew this lock's thumbscrew on those old window rails/frames. a relatively - and unnecessarily - steep angle. Instead of the "flat" surface of the screw engaging the window frame, only the narrow edge of the screw does all the "latching work". This is either a bad design or a manufacturing defect. 4) Finally, the metal on these slide locks is very soft. I'm just an old man, not the Hulk, but when I turn the thumbscrew I definitely feel the metal/aluminum of the lock or thumbscrew "give" or bend a little. This doesn't happen with my other window locks. So there are better designed/better made window locks that should provide more security. Not recommended.
