Review on πŸ“· Sony Cybershot DSCW70 7.2MP Digital Camera | 3x Optical Zoom by Ronald Wheeler

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Outside is great, inside not so much.

I bought this camera to take my family on vacation to Disney World. I needed something small that would fit in my purse. I chose Sony because I am the proud owner of a Sony Mavica MVC-FD95. I've been using it for about 8 years and I think it takes the best indoor and outdoor digital photos. The only gripe for me is the long turnaround time between photos, and it's too long to take with you on vacation. Anyway, I found the Sony Cybershot DSC-W70 to take very good day shots in natural sunlight. But I was disappointed with the overall brightness of the images when shooting indoors in low light, especially indoors without natural sunlight. Every picture seemed too dark. I've tried every reasonable camera setting to force the flash when I needed a well-exposed photo, but never figured it out. With my trusty old Mavika, just open the flash and it will turn on. My old camera also has a great zoom lens. I didn't think I would miss him so much, but I did. I decided to return the Cybershot DSC-W70 Revain after taking quite a few indoor photos (shot in the evening) over Christmas. Again, I tried different settings to get the brighter exposure I wanted, but not every shot was worth developing. It was such a big disappointment for me. I took the time to take so many photos of my extended family and none of them were decent. In the meantime, I will carry on my trusty old Mavika. Maybe my next camera will be the Sony Cybershot DSC-H5. It's not tiny, but I think it's better than my Mavica. My opinion on the camera The DSC-W70 is a good slim camera for natural sunlight photography. It satisfied my vacation needs but not my daily living needs. I didn't use the camera mainly for photographing landscapes etc., but for photographing my young children and my family.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Slightly torn
