Long handle gives you no trouble. Just tilt the handle about 30-45 degrees from vertical and squeeze lightly and it cleans the Weber grill I have really well. It even gets by with the extra teriyaki sauce after I let the grill cool down. I clean my grill every time before I use it. I light the briquettes, place the grill on top of the briquettes, and while the grill is heating up from the briquettes, I just lightly brush the grill and walla, everything is clean and ready to go. Cleaning the grill just before use will prevent rusting on my grill. due to moisture before using it again. If I grill right after cleaning the grill I just let it heat up for another 5 minutes to sterilize the germs haha before putting the meat on it.
